ARTIST STATEMENT

People are at the centre of my work. I’m interested in how clothing, surroundings, light and gesture bring out someone’s character. Even when the colour and light are bold, I want the person’s expression and presence to stay with you.

An unexpected expression or movement can change even a carefully composed image. I leave room for those small departures, looking for something surprising in a familiar face or scene. I’m drawn to the moment when chance becomes part of the picture.
